Randwick: G1 All Aged S., $1,500,000, 1400m

Handling the downgraded track with aplomb, Magic Time (Hellbent) showed plenty of heart wearning down the longshot Amenable (Lonhro) who went close to providing his late sire with a timely big race success.

Bred by Muir Woodside passed in (for $110,000, reserve $150,000) at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Magic Time is raced by her vendors Milburn Creek.

One of the five stakes winners for her Yarraman Park based G1 William Reid S. winning sire - a son of I Am Invincible - she is the first foal for the G3 SA Sires' Produce S. winner Time Awaits (Nicconi), granddaughter of the G2 WA Oaks winner Mystic Chantry (Chanteclair).

Paying a return visit to I Am Invincible last spring, Time Awaits had missed the previous season - her 2022 born colt being a son of Maurice (Jpn) whilst her 2-year-old Henlein (Dundeel {NZ}) is a $300,000 member of the Anthony and Sam Freedman stable.

Her $220,000 3-year-old daughter Cosmonova (Zoustar) raced well over the summer, winning two of her three starts for Joseph Pride.

G1 Champagne S., $1,000,000, 1600m

The first male Group 1 winning juvenile for the season, Broadsiding (Too Darn Hot {GB}) was a tough winner in the Godolphin blue.

He is the second elite level winner (and one of six stakes winners) for his exciting young sire who is proving quite the international stallion - those stakes winners coming in five different countries!

Broadsiding is one of only two live foals produced by the two times winner Speedway (Street Cry {Ire}) who died young - her only other foal being the yet to race Tony Gollan trained 3-year-old No Brakes (Lonhro) who was unplaced in a Deagon trial in February.

A half-sister to the G1 1000 Guineas heroine Flit (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}), Speedway is out of the stakes placed Glissade (Redoute’s Choice) who has also produced the stakes placed multiple city winner Flow (Street Cry).

Broadsiding’s third dam is the G3 AJC Breeders Classic winner Steflara (Zabeel {NZ}) whose dam is the dual Group 3 winner Blue Storm (Bluebird {Ire}) - grandam of the dual Group 1 winner Tropical Squall (Prized Icon) and the Listed winner Federal (Medaglia d'Oro {USA}).

It was an all first season sire finish to the race - Linebacker (NZ) (Super Seth) second, Fearless (Pierata) third and Manaal (Tassort) fourth.

Too Darn Hot hails from the same family as his great, great grandsire Mr Prospector (USA) and is relishing further strains of that great stallion; Broadsiding boasting a 5 X 4 cross.

All but one of his other stakes winners are line-bred to Mr Prospector with his other Group 1 winner Fallen Angel (GB) owning a particularly interesting pedigree - line-bred to Too Darn Hot's third dam Delsy (Fr) (Abdos {Fr}).

G3 HB Carr S., $250,000, 1400m

Continuing the good recent run for Woppitt Bloodstock whose Debbie Kepitis has certainly been in the headlines of late, home-bred 3-year-old Konasana (Dundeel {NZ}) defied a rise in class, relishing the heavy conditions.

The 27th stakes winner for her Arrowfield Stud based sire, she is the third foal and third winner for the imported winner Posing (USA) (Medicean {GB}) whose G3 Musidora S. winning grandam Magnificent Style (USA) (Silver Hawk {USA}) produced Enable's (GB) dual Group 1 winning sire Nathaniel (Ire).

Served last spring by St Mark's Basilica (Fr) and Yes Yes Yes having missed the previous spring to Supido, Posing has a yet to be named 2022 born Yes Yes Yes colt.

Konasana hails from a prolific international family, one in the news just this week with Yulong announcing the addition to the Victorian roster of Panthalassa (Jpn) (Lord Kanaloa {Jpn}) who is also a descendant of the high class race and broodmare Delta (USA) (Nasrullah {Ire}).

G3 Hall Mark S., $250,000, 1200m

The second leg of a Group race running double for the in-form Jamie Kah, Mazu (Maurice {Jpn}) was back in the winner's circle for the first time since his G1 Doomben 10,000 success in May 2022.

Bred by Parsons Creek Pastoral Co and purchased by Triple Crown Syndications for $180,000 at the 2020 William Inglis Classic, Mazu is one of the 26 stakes winners for Arrowfield Stud based sire.

Mazu's multiple stakes placed, multiple city winning dam Chatelaine (Flying Spur) is doing a great job at stud with her five winners including the G1 Coolmore Stud S. winner Headway (Charge Forward) whilst one of her placed daughters Cheyenne Sue (Zizou) has produced the Listed Redoute's Choice S. winner Let Me Sleep On It (Manhattan Rain).

Chatelaine has unfortunately missed at her last two seasons at stud with her latest foal, a King's Legacy colt, passed in for $250,000 at Easter. Her yet to race 2-year-old El Toro Macho Toronado (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}) - a $350,000 Easter graduate - is a member of the Ciaron Maher stable.

G3 JRA Plate, $250,000, 2000m

Dual G1 Doomben Cup winner Huetor (Fr) (Archipenko {USA}) was back in winning form at only his second run this time in.

Bred Sarl Darpat France, the tough import is one of 25 stakes winners and six winners for his late Lanwades Stud based G1 HKJC Queen Elizabeth II Cup winning sire.

His well travelled triple Listed winning dam Briviesca (GB) (Peintre Celebre {USA}) has produced another five winners including the G1 Prix de l'Opera winner Villa Marina (GB) (Le Havre {Ire}) and the stakes placed Aguafria (USA) (More Than Ready {USA}).

Briviesca is a granddaughter of the G3 Lingfield Oaks Trial winner Kilinski (Ire) (Niniski {USA}), also grandam of the G1 Champions Fillies and Mares S. winner Madame Chiang (GB) (Archipenko) - daughter of the Listed winner Oriental Mystique (GB) (Kingman {GB}).

Huetor is bred on a 4 X 3 cross of Nureyev (USA) and is from that stallion's family as is Archipenko - the wonderful mare Special (USA) (Forli {Arg}) duplicated.

G3 Frank Packer Plate, $250,000, 2000m

It was a race decided in the stewards room with Kintyre (Hallowed Crown) successfully protesting against Gold Bullion (NZ) (Savabeel) who had been first across the line.

It was a well deserved black-type breakthrough for Kintyre who had four times been in the placings in Group company.

The seventh stakes winner for his Twin Hills Stud based dual Group 1 winning sire, Kintyre races in the colours of Laurel Oak Bloodstock who bred the consistent 3-year-old with Goodwood Farm's Kerrie Tibbey who also remains in the ownership.

Kintyre is the second foal produced by the still young but already accomplished broodmare Mull Over (So You Think {NZ}) whose first foal is the now Japan based G1 Golden Slipper S. and G1 Sires Produce S. winner Fireburn (Rebel Dane).

Served by Rebel Dane last spring, Mull Over is also dam of a Pierata colt who Laurel Oak purchased back for $460,000 at the recent Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

A Newcastle maiden winner bred and raced by Think Big Stud, Mull Over is a half-sister to the dual Listed winner Galizani (Galileo {Ire}).

Kintyre's third dam is the G1 Flight S. winner Danarani (Danehill {USA}), daughter of the Listed Selene S. winner Vaguely Modest (Can) (Vaguely Noble {Ire}).

Kintyre is the first (from 19 runners/nine winners) Hallowed Crown stakes winner out of a mare carrying a strain of that stallion's relation Zabeel (NZ) - a 4 X 4 cross of Lady Giselle (Fr) (Nureyev {USA}) the result.

Ellerslie: G3 Championship S., NZ$120,000, 2100m

Doing a big job swamping her rivals from the rear, Moonlight Magic (NZ) (Almanzor {Fr}) broke her maiden in fine style.

The 16th stakes winner for her Cambridge Stud based emerging sire, Moonlight Magic - a home-bred for The Sunlight Trust - is the fourth winner (from as many to race) for the placed Japonica (Encosta de Lago).

Again served by Almanzor last spring, Japonica foaled a Saxon Warrior (Jpn) colt in October and her previous foal Belardi (NZ) (Belardo {Ire}) has trialled for the Andrew Forsman stable.

Japonica is a half-sister to the Group 3 based South African based galloper Main Dane (Fastnet Rock) out of a half-sister to the triple Group 1 winner Serenade Rose (Stravinsky {USA}) whose descendants include the dual Group 1 winning sprinter Trekking (Street Cry {Ire}).

Whilst Almanzor carries a strain of Nureyev (USA), Japonica has his three-quarter brothers Fairy King (USA) and Sadler's Wells (USA).

Listed Star Way S., $100,000, 1200m

Sustaining a strong run out wide, Domain Ace (NZ) (Swiss Ace) remained defeated on the back of his smart Otaki maiden victory earlier in the month.

The 19th stakes winner for his Westbury Stud based G1 Oakleigh Plate winning sire, he was bred by Gerry Harvey and sold by Westbury to Rogerson Bloodstock for $35,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.

Rogerson took him to that year's New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale where he was passed in with a reserve of $50,000.

Domain Ace is the first winner for his unraced dam Internet (Hussonet {USA}) whose multiple city winning dam Succeeding (Flying Spur) produced seven winners including the South African Champion 2YO Colt Delago Deluxe.

Suceeding's dam is the six times Group winner Staging (Success Express {USA}) - dam of the Group 1 gallopers Duporth and Excites and the dual Group 2 winner Tickets. All three of those horses stood at stud, all siring stakes winners.

A descendant of the famed matriarch Teppo (GB) (Ladas {GB}), Domain Ace has heavy Mr Prospector (USA) influence with strains of Seeking The Gold (USA), Carson City (USA), Hussonet and Rolls (USA).

Morphettville Parks: Listed HC Nitschke S., $120,000, 1400m

It was a close finish to this 1400 metres Morphettville feature with Material Dreams (Lean Mean Machine) having her nose down when it counted - recording the fifth win of her ten start career.

Bred by Rob Dunnett and sold by Collingrove Stud to G Lewis for $55,000 at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, she is the second stakes winner for his Aquis Farm based dual Group 2 winning sire, a son of Zoustar. She is the first winner for the two times winner Lincoln's Sunset (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}) whose full brother and sister Westsouthwest (NZ) and Aurora Lights (NZ) are both Group 1 placed winners.

Missing last year to Lean Mean Machine, Lincoln's Sunset foaled a Royal Meeting (Ire) filly in late October whilst her yearling is a daughter of Rubick.

Hailing from the same family as Storm Bird (Can), Material Dreams is 5 X 3 Danehill (USA) via Redoute's Choice and Darci Brahma.
