Mariamia (Toronado {Ire}) was an easy winner of this race, one which increased her value nicely with her previous biggest success coming at BM88 level a couple of weeks ago.
The Joseph Pride-trained 6-year-old had however proven herself at black-type level, twice finishing in the placings in Group 3 company; the first of those when trained in Victoria by Shane Stockdale.
Bred by Adam Sangster and purchased by Gasper Stellato for $18,000 from Book 2 of the 2018 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Mariamia changed hands in March last year - topping an Inglis online sale when purchased by Newhaven Stud for $335,000.
The 30th stakes winner for her Swettenham Stud-based sire, Mariamia is out of the unplaced Quinta Lago (Encosta De Lago) (no longer at stud) whose Group 2-placed dam Flying Spice (Flying Spur) is a half-sister to the durable stakes winner Chattanooga (Scenic {Ire}).
And Flying Spice is the grandam of the G1 Victoria Derby winner Warning (Declaration Of War {USA}).
Mariamia is bred on a 4 X 4 cross of the terrific mare Fairy Bridge (USA) (Bold Reason {USA}) via her sons - the prolific full brothers Sadler's Wells (USA) and Fairy King (USA).
G3 Canonbury S., $200,000, 1100m
Straight to the lead, Red Resistance (Russian Revolution) gave a good kick in the run home and was strong to the line holding off the odds-on favourite King's Gambit (I Am Invincible).
Also impressive when saluting at debut, he is the fifth stakes winner (and the second from his second crop) for his Newgate Farm-based sire and he is raced by that stud with Sir Owen Glenn's Go Bloodstock.
Red Resistance is the second foal produced by the fast and classy Heatherly (Lonhro), winner of six of her 18 starts including the G2 Rubiton S., the Listed Carlyon S. and the Listed Bob Hoysted H.
Also dam of the lightly raced Gosford winner Miss Glenn (Written Tycoon), Heatherly was served last spring by Snitzel having lost a Capitalist colt. Her yearling is a son of I Am Invincible.
Heatherly is one of the six winners (from as many to race) for the unraced Dancing Heather (Danzero), a half-sister to the G1 Stradbroke H. winner Linton (Galileo {Ire}) from the family of the big race winners Sharvasti (NZ) (Montjeu {Ire}) and Santa Monica (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}).
Red Resistance's sire is bred on a Danehill (USA)/Nureyev (USA) cross whilst his dam is bred on the opposite.
G3 Widden S., $200,000, 1100m
Coolmore Stud's Triple Crown hero Justify (USA) is off the mark in Australia and with a smart one - Learning To Fly finding plenty at her debut having shown plenty of talent at the trials.
Bred by Katom and purchased by Kia Ora Stud for $900,000 from the Coolmore Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the Annabel Neasham-trained filly is her sire's seventh stakes winner and his first winner on Australian soil.

A horse who really knows how to find the line - this win his fourth in a row - Jigsaw (Manhattan Rain) is a deserved Group 2 winner on the back of his two successes at Listed level.
Bred by Lynne Alderson whose daughter Cindy is the trainer, the handsome dark brown 4-year-old is one of the 16 stakes winners for his now Geisel Park and former Blue Gum Farm-based sire.
He is the third foal and third winner for the metropolitan winner Demandz (NZ) (Lonhro), also dam of the Listed Tasmanian Oaks runner-up Queen Adele (Adelaide {Ire}).

Sunshine Coast: Listed Sunshine Coast Cup, $150,000, 1400m
Trilogy Racing may well have been disappointed when their $400,000 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale purchase Chaillot (Testa Rossa) did not get into foal (served by Toronado {Ire}) last spring but not so much now with the tough mare increasing her value with this, her fourth success at stakes level.
Originally purchased by Alexander Racing/McKeever Bloodstock for $25,000 from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2018 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, Chaillot was bred by Gerry Harvey.
One of the 26 stakes winners for her now retired six-time Group 1-winning sire, Chaillot is one of the five winners produced by the placed Mary Of Modena (Encosta De Lago) whose half-sister Lady Of The Garter (also by Testa Rossa) is dam of the Singapore Champion 2-Year-Old Stonedance (NZ) (Red Giant {USA}).
Mary Of Modena is now in New Zealand having been due last spring to Tarzino (NZ) after producing a colt by him.
Chaillot's pedigree is an interesting one with her grandsire Perugino (USA) being a son of the wonderful mare Fairy Bridge (USA) (Bold Reason {USA}) - also dam of Fairy King (USA) and Sadler's Wells (USA), both of whom appear in Mary Of Modena's pedigree.
Ascot: Listed Scenic Blast S., $125,000, 1200m
Finishing too strongly out wide for her rivals, Angelic Miss (Savabeel) was game to the line recording her first win since late 2021.
Already a dual Listed winner, the Simon Miller-trained mare is one of the 130 stakes winners for her Waikato Stud-based sire. She was bred by Windsor Park Stud and purchased by her trainer for $250,000 at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
She is one of three winners (from as many to race) for the Group 3-placed Angelica Hall (NZ), daughter of the triple Listed winner Greta Hall (NZ) (Kaapstad {NZ}) - grandam of the Listed winner Fox Hall (Foxwedge).
Greta Hall is one of seven winners for the high-class broodmare Lovenvain (Vain), the stakes-placed metropolitan winner who was well-represented by three other stakes winners... the dual Group 1-winning miler Golden Sword (NZ) (Kaapstad {NZ}), the Group 3 mare Madam Valeta (NZ) (Palace Music {USA}) and the Listed winner Balmoral Keep (NZ) (Balmerino {NZ}).
Descendants of Lovenvain have done a great job, amongst them being the four-time Group winner Falkirk (NZ), the G2 Hill S. winner Mulan Princess (NZ) (Kaapstad {NZ}), the G1 Australasian Oaks heroine Royal Descent (Redoute's Choice), the Hong Kong Group 3 winner Ho Ho Khan (NZ) (Makfi {GB}) and the Listed winners East Asia (NZ) (Swiss Ace) and Luscilla (NZ) (Entrepreneur {GB}).
Bred on a 3 X 4 Sir Tristram (Ire) cross, Angelic Miss is also line-bred to the great mare Special (USA) (Forli {Arg}) via Nureyev (USA) and Sadler's Wells (USA).
Angelica Hall was due last spring to Circus Maximus (Ire) having previously produced a colt by Ten Sovereigns (GB).
Morphettville: Listed Durbridge S., $107,250, 1100m
With his form around the G2 Australia S. winner Jigsaw (Manhattan Rain), Shamino (Shamus Award) looked well-placed in this race and he dug deep to record a gutsy win - his fourth at Listed level.
A homebred for D Brook, Shamino is one of the 20 stakes winners for his G1 W.S Cox Plate and G1 Australian Guineas-winning, Rosemont Stud-based sire, a son of Redoute's Choice.
His dam is the multiple city winner Elumino (El Moxie {USA}) who died in the spring of 2020 with her final foal being the yet to race Phillip Stokes-trained 3-year-old Misludi (Supido).
The dam of another three winners, Elumino does not have a great deal of black-type close up in her pedigree though her third dam is the Group 3 winner Celestial Lights (USA) (Bold Ruler {USA}) who hails from the same branch of the prolific Cherokee Rose (USA) (Peter Pan {USA}) family as the classy stallion Majestic Light (USA).
