Rosehill, Listed Turangga Farm Woodlands S., $140,000, 1100m

Race summary

Xtremetime gifted her freshman sire Extreme Choice another winner at stud with a most impressive triumph here. The John Thompson-trained filly went back from barrier 11 and switched off like a seasoned professional. From there Brenton Avdulla remained patient before extending towards the outside and letting rip aboard the talented juvenile. When asked to let down Xtremetime went to work and went straight past a gallant Ashema (I Am Invincible) who refused to give in despite being out in front for a long way in the straight.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Shihonka (Capitalist) planted the seeds for a big future finishing third at only her third career start.

Race summary

Ballistic Lover (Smart Missile) bolted in here to make it two-from-two this time in. The Joseph Pride-trained filly was the beneficiary of a perfect steer by Regan Bayliss who effectively offset barrier 15. On straightening Bayliss looked to have plenty of horse left underneath him and from there he continued to savage the line to finish well clear of minor placegetters Majestic Shot (Shooting To Win) and Nags To Riches (Written Tycoon).

Race summary

Midland (Brazen Beau) made his high-class rivals look second rate in this feature event. The Kris Lees-trained gelding landed in a beautiful box seat position under Brenton Avdulla after stepping clean into stride from barrier one. From there he proceeded to stalk the speed before peeling out and powering away to a soft victory, ahead of a ducking and weaving Nicci’s Fling (Nicconi).

Exoboom (Exosphere) was far from disgraced sticking on into third, as he was forced to settle three-wide without cover the trip.

Race summary

Albumin (Foxwedge) bounced back to the winner's stall with a tough victory under man of the hour Tommy Berry.

The grey gelding was even into stride under Berry and stalked the speed accordingly. From there the pair shot up the inside lanes to nab the Team Hawkes-trained Surreal Step (Sidestep).

Flemington, Listed Andrew Ramsden S., $400,000, 2800m

Race summary

Realm Of Flowers (So You Think {NZ}) proved a dominant force en route to booking herself a guaranteed start in the G1 Melbourne Cup.

The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained mare was rated superbly by leading hoop Mark Zahra over the staying trip settling down in a midfield position. From there Zahra left nothing to chance trucking up into the straight in a three-wide position and producing his mount with a strong run at the 300-metre mark. The race was all sewn up at that point and that then left Grand Promenade (GB) (Champs Elysees {GB}) and Miami Bound (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}) to fight it out for the minor placings.

Persan (Pierro) was improved in fourth. However, the jury still remains out on him this preparation.

Pedigree notes

Bred by Desharon Bloodstock, Realm Of Flowers is out of the placed racemare Astral Flower (GB) (Kalanisi {GB}), who herself is a half-sister to Group 1-winning sire Redwood (GB). French Group 1 winner Navajo Princess (GB) (Drone {USA}) also features in her third dam line.

Race summary

Lost And Running (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) continued on his winning ways, romping in under the in-form Tommy Berry.

Berry went straight to the front aboard the John O’Shea-trained galloper and dictated the tempo on his own terms. On straightening Lost And Running looked to have the race at his mercy. However, Eleven Eleven (Fastnet Rock) placed him under pressure at the 300 metre mark which forced Berry to ask for a response and he received just that. The Chris Waller duo of True Detective (Shamus Award) and Dealmaker (Casino Prince) rounded out the minor placings, while Military Zone (Epaulette) had to settle for a distant fourth.
