Looking Ahead highlights runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are an exceptionally well-bred or high-priced runner early in their career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse that has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Three exciting runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Saturday. A Too Darn Hot (GB) filly resumes at Randwick, and Newcastle is the venue for Snitzel and Deep Field runners to chase maiden success.

Randwick, Race 1, 11.30am AEDT, ATC Bookmakers Recognition Day Handicap, $160,000, 1100m

Gobi Desert, 2-year-old filly (Too Darn Hot (GB) x Hell It’s Hot {Zeditave})

The Kris Lees-trained Gobi Desert will make her third start at Randwick on Saturday over 1100 metres. She won nicely on debut in November last year, and after failing in the R. Listed Nursery Stakes behind Within The Law (Lucky Vega {Ire}), she has had a nice break and a couple of trials to prepare herself for her resuming assignment.

This well-related filly is the fifteenth live-foal from the Zeditave mare Hell It’s Hot, she was handy on the track winning twice, and placing at metropolitan level in Sydney and has left eight-winners.

Her biggest claim to fame is leaving the super talented Time Thief filly In Her Time, who won just over $3.7 million on the track including the G1 Lightning Stakes.

After her outstanding racing career, In Her Time sold at the 2021 Inglis Chairman’s Sale fetching $2.2 million to the bid of Yulong Investments Australia.

Hell It’s Hot since producing Gobi Desert, has left a yearling filly by Astern and was served by All Too Hard last spring,

Newcastle, Race 2, 1pm AEDT, Jets In Business 2YO Maiden Plate, $42,000, 1250m

Beadman, 2-year-old colt (Snitzel x Iffranesia {Fr} {Iffraaj {GB}})

Newcastle’s Saturday meeting will serve as the venue for the second start for Beadman (Snitzel). This promising colt is trained well-known 2-year-old trainer Peter Snowden.

Beadman ran a pleasing second on debut at Kembla Grange on April 15 behind Akaysha (Capitalist) in what looks like it might be a strong form race.

Beadman is by Arrowfield Stud’s outstanding sire Snitzel, and he has a strong pedigree being out of a French Listed winner in Iffranesia (Fr) (Iffraaj {GB}), and his damline is full of European stakes performers.

Iffranesia since producing Beadman, has left a weanling colt by Snitzel, and was served last spring by Dundeel (NZ).

Beadman was purchased for $900,000 by China Horse Club, Newgate, Go Bloodstock and Trilogy from the draft of Arrowfield Stud at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Bohemian Art, 3-year-old filly (Deep Field x Your Life Style {Hussonet {USA}})

The Nathan Doyle-trained Bohemian Art will run on her home track at Newcastle on Saturday when making her debut over 1300 metres. She has had plenty of trial experience leading up to her debut.

The promising filly is by Deep Field and is the eighth foal from the Hussonet (USA) mare Your Life Style, who was unraced on the track, but her pedigree is top-class as illustrated by being a $1,200,000 purchase by Newgate Farm at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. She has left three winners including the eight-time winner Cafe Royal (Snitzel) who was also placed in the Listed Silk Stocking Handicap.

Your Life Style is three-quarter-sister to the dam of three-time Group 1 winner Shoals (Fastnet Rock) and the Listed winning gelding Groundswell (Fastnet Rock). She is also a half-sister to Precious Lorraine (Encosta De Lago) who was successful in the G3 South Australia Fillies Classic, and the Listed winner Lucky Raquie (Encosta De Lago).

Your Life Style since producing Bohemian Art, has left a yearling colt by Capitalist, and a weanling colt by Russian Revolution.
