A 10 per cent share in Group 1 placed 3-year-old colt Coleman (Pierata) topped the Inglis Digital April (Early) Sale on April 9, selling for $405,000. Offered by Carringbush Park, the share was the subject of significant interest by several parties both in Australia and abroad before finally selling to STBT/ZMB. The share values the colt at just over $4 million.

“For both buyers and sellers of racehorse shares, Inglis Digital continues to provide unequivocal success,” Inglis Digital’s Business Manager Nick Melmeth said.

“The increase in popularity of people wanting to offer shares – be it 2.5 per cent or 50 per cent - has been astronomical and that’s added another significant aspect to each catalogue that probably wasn’t there in such strength and numbers a couple of years ago.

“The buyers have reacted accordingly, I mean the racehorse shares section each and every sale is one of the most highly active elements of the catalogue and today’s fabulous result with Coleman is further evidence that Inglis Digital provides an incredible opportunity for people who are looking to take advantage of the robust and lucrative market that is consistently facilitated on Inglis Digital.”

Coleman trialled for his new trainer Chris Waller on Monday and will be set for the Brisbane Winter carnival aiming to clash with Schwarz (Zoustar) in the G1 Doomben 10,000. He missed the autumn due to bone chip surgery.

Originally trained by Matt Laurie, Coleman won the Listed Debutant Stakes on debut, and followed it up with victory in the G3 Chairman’s Stakes. Back in the autumn he had three starts for three placings in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes, G1 Golden Slipper, and G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes.

As a spring 3-year-old, he ran sixth in both the G1 AJ Moir Stakes and G1 Manikato Stakes before heading to Sydney where he placed in the G2 Roman Consul Stakes.

The second-top lot was the young broodmare Bout (Artie Schiller {USA}) in foal to G1 Golden Slipper winner Shinzo, who was purchased by Headline Thoroughbreds for $120,000.

“I’m absolutely thrilled, she’s a lovely mare and I wish her new owners all the best with her,” vendor Goodwood’s Kerrie Tibbey said.

“That was all just such an easy process with Inglis Digital, it’s such a great platform, so easy, I think it’s the best idea and that it’s wonderful and I’m sure every stud and every mare owner in the country feels the same.”

The sale had a clearance rate of 75 per cent with 286 lots sold for an aggregate of $2.9 million.
