Lot 102 – Home Affairs x Paulownia (Fastnet Rock) colt - $180,000
Buyer: Archibald & Neasham Racing and William Johnson Bloodstock (FBAA)
Vendor: Coolmore Stud
The Home Affairs half-brother to Listed Jim Moloney Stakes-winning 3-year-old filly Lilac (Justify {USA}) went to the same stable with Annabel Neasham, Rob Archibald and William Johnson keen to grab him. Lilac ran third in Saturday’s G3 PJ Bell Stakes behind She’s Got Pizzazz (Zoustar) and Flying For Fun (Spieth {NZ}).
“Annabel and Rob train Lilac, so we were naturally keen on having a good look at this one. He is actually a very different type to her, though, but is typical of the Home Affairs breed,” said Will Johnson.
“A sharp, mould of a sprinter, I Am Invincible has done well over Fastnet Rock mares so hopefully that bodes well with that cross. The page has produced a stallion, the dam was stakes placed and the half-sister is a Group winner.”

The dam of this colt and Lilac is G2 Wellington Guineas-placed Paulownia (Fastnet Rock) who is a full sister to G1 William Reid Stakes winner and successful sire Foxwedge, and Listed winner She’s A Fox.
Another half-sister Banskia (Redoute’s Choice) is the dam of G2 Alister Clark Stakes winner Bank Maur (Maurice {Jpn}) and his full brother Listed winner Namesake (Maurice {Jpn}).
“We got him for well under half of the sales average, so is great value. It is a hard sale but we have done the work and are really happy with our purchases. He’s been purchased in a nice price bracket, plenty of good horses have won Group 1 races from this sale that have been purchased for less than $200,000.
