The catalogue for the 2025 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale was released on January 10, 2025. Since then, several yearlings set to go under the hammer at Riverside Stables have seen their pedigrees strengthened by recent racecourse performances, adding even more appeal for buyers and vendors ahead of day 2 of Australia’s most prestigious yearling auction.

Lot 312 - Snitzel x C’Est Bea La Vie (Bernadini {USA}), colt - on account of Arrowfield Stud

This colt is going to turn a lot of heads after Snitzel’s stellar weekend in March where he sired the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner one day and followed it up with the Listed Hong Kong Derby winner the next. The latter is what’s important for this colt, who is his full brother.

Four-year-old gelding Cap Ferrat (Snitzel) had always shown potential, placing in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes and the G1 Rosehill Guineas prior to export, but he really shone at his latest start when winning the Derby. One of Hong Kong’s most prestigious races, Cap Ferrat’s Derby victory is made all the more special by being his first win. What a way to break your maiden! Despite being winless before March, he had managed to amass over $575,000 in prizemoney on Australian soil and had several additional placings at stakes level, including running third in the G3 Gloaming Stakes by just 0.54l.

Lot 317 - Pierro x Celebrity Queen (Redoute’s Choice), colt - on account of Coolmore Stud

This colt’s dam has gotten off to a flying start at stud with her first foal, current juvenile State Visit (Wootton Bassett {GB}). Coolmore has retained the first foal of $2.5 million Inglis Chairman’s Sale purchase and G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Celebrity Queen (Redoute’s Choice), and State Visit has vindicated that decision already, winning on debut at Canterbury in February.

He followed that performance up with scoring his first bit of black-type in the G3 Pago Pago Stakes, coming third behind Skyhook (Written Tycoon) and Good Hotspur (Calyx {GB}). It was a quality field in that race too; behind him was $1 million Golden Gift and Listed Lonhro Plate placegetter Extractor (Spirit Of Boom), Kirkham Plate winner Comedy (Snitzel), as well as the promising Valedictorian (Zoustar). Trainer Ciaron Maher took State Visit to Randwick on Saturday where he stepped up to the elite level and proved his class - he finished just 0.21l behind Vinrock (I Am Invincible) in the G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes.

Lot 336 - Zoustar x Custard (Lonhro), filly - on account of Segenhoe Stud

From one of the best young families in the studbook - that features the Group 2 winners Alegron (Teofilo {Ire}) and Stretan Angel (Harry Angel {Ire}) - this filly has had three of her close relations win races since the catalogue went to print. Chief among them is 4-year-old Ducasse (Trapeze Artist), who added a fourth metropolitan win to his record in February, then provided another boost just this week with a gallant third in the G3 Doncaster Prelude at the rescheduled Rosehill Gardens meet on Tuesday. He is currently an emergency for the G1 Doncaster Mile on Saturday.

The 3-year-old President (I Am Invincible), a son of this filly’s half-sister Serene Majesty (Fastnet Rock) who was Group-placed as a juvenile, broke his maiden in style at Rosehill, just four days after Ducasse’s Saturday win back in February. In a further exciting development, this filly’s three-quarter-sister, 2-year-old Zumbo (Zoustar) out of Panna Cotta (Fastnet Rock), was a classy 1.03l winner on debut at Grafton in January. If that’s not enough, Stretan Angel has added several Group 1 placings to her record since the catalogue went to print. This is a family that keeps on giving.
