The catalogue for the 2025 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale was released on January 10, 2025. Since then, several yearlings set to go under the hammer at Riverside Stables have seen their pedigrees strengthened by recent racecourse performances, adding even more appeal for buyers and vendors ahead of Australia’s most prestigious yearling auction.

Lot 20 - Per Incanto (USA) x Lady Sayyida (Iffraaj {GB}), colt - on account of Trelawney Stud

This colt has had a huge boost to his page in recent months, courtesy of half-brother Shanwah (Too Darn Hot {GB}). Placed as a juvenile when the catalogue was formulated, Shanwah has come on leaps and bounds as a 3-year-old and has been unbeaten in his last four starts. Even more impressively, he took the leap in those starts from a Mornington maiden race to winning back-to-back Group 2 races at Caulfield and Moonee Valley.

Shanwah has relished the step up in distance as he has gotten older, winning the G2 Autumn Classic over 1800 metres by 1.5l before stretching out to 2000 metres in the G2 Alister Clark Stakes, which he won by 2l. In the latter run, he soundly defeated G2 Moonee Valley Vase winner Red Aces (Dundeel {NZ}) and the promising Rapid Cheval (NZ) (Super Seth), who has Oaks aims. Shanwah might give the page a bump again this Saturday, when he lines up for the G1 Australian Derby at Randwick.

Lot 51 - I Am Invincible x Maroon Bay (Exceed And Excel), colt - on account of Emirates Park

Two smart juvenile close relations give this colt’s page - which already features the likes of Merchant Navy and dual Group 1 winner Joliestar (Zoustar) - a boost on the lead-up to the sale. Half-brother Mednyi (Capitalist) was smart when winning the Super Maiden event at Newcastle in March, defeating subsequent winner Missile Magnate (Capitalist) and $200,000 Wellington Boot runner-up Alabama Charm (Alabama Express). He held on well to finish third last week at Kensington behind debutante winner Farnicle (Farnan).

This lot’s half-sister Sienna Rose (More Than Ready {USA}) provided the other update with her juvenile Stormland (NZ) (Hello Youmzain {Fr}), who delivered the goods on debut in March for Darby Racing. He bids to bring the page another update this Saturday at Randwick, when he will start in the G3 Kindergarten Stakes as one of four last-start winners among the 12-horse field.

Lot 70 - I Am Invincible x Missile Mantra (Smart Missile), filly - on account of Yarraman Park Stud

This is another mare who has kicked off her breeding career well with her first foal; a $120,000 graduate of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale last year, Missile Magnate impressed on debut with a powerful second behind Mednyi, beaten only 0.74l in a Super Maiden race at Newcastle. Two weeks later, the colt headed to Gosford where he struck over 1100 metres to break his maiden, defeating $200,000 Wellington Boot runner-up Alabama Charm.

Missile Magnate lines up this Saturday in the G3 Kindergarten Stakes at Randwick - a chance to give his half-sister a highly desirable pedigree update before sale day.
