Lot 679 - Maurice (Jpn) x Spring Heat (More Than Ready {USA}), filly - $150,000
Buyer: Byerley Bloodstock
Vendor: Arrowfield Stud
Lot 679 is a daughter of Arrowfield Stud’s high achieving Maurice (Jpn), whose statistics read particularly well in this part of the world with 126 of his 174 (72.5%) runners being winners, with nine of those being stakes winners.
The Hermitage Thoroughbreds-bred filly is the first live foal for the very good race mare Spring Heat (More Than Ready {USA}), who did a nice job winning six of her 19 starts, including the G3 King’s Plate and the G3 Bonecrusher Stakes.
Served last spring by another Japanese horse in Admire Mars (Jpn) having unfortunately slipped to The Autumn Sun the previous season, Spring Heat is a granddaughter of the G3 Silver Shadow Stakes and triple Listed winner Katima (Zeditave).

Bob Peters’ grandson Liam was on the ground at the sale and he loved what he saw with this filly.
“The only slight thing about her is that she has that first foal look about her but aside from that she is perfect!
“She has a lot of quality and we loved the way she walked.
“She is athletic, intelligent and professional and was so well prepared as Arrowfield horses always are.”

Despite being originally discouraged from working with horses, Liam has inherited the family’s passion for breeding and pedigrees and has enjoyed becoming more involved with the selection process over the last few years.
Lot 679 was a ‘20/20 Match’ under Stallion Match’s analysis. This means that this mating has two or more successful graded stakes winners with over 20 shared ancestors within five generations. While only 45 per cent of matings are a 20/20 Match, 70 per cent of stakes-winning horses are bred on it, increasing your chances significantly.
