The full catalogue for the Tattersalls Online December Sale comprises of 122 lots and will conclude on December 12 (10am UK time). It is headlined by the Tattersalls and Inglis collaboration known as the Southern Hemisphere Session.
“The sale closes at 10am here which is 9pm on December 12 for Australia, and the Southern Hemisphere Session is the first nine lots of bidding. The platform works the same as the Inglis Digital one with the time for each lot extended if there are active bids,” said Tattersalls Online's Katherine Sheridan.
“Tattersalls are in a unique position with Inglis as we are shareholders in Inglis, so there is a long-standing connection between the two companies. This sale presented itself as an opportunity to cross promote this sale between the two companies, and the success of the Inglis Digital platform is something we draw a lot of inspiration from.
“Being able to promote to the Australian and New Zealand markets is appealing, especially after the announcement of Too Darn Hot not shuttling. The Southern Hemisphere Sessions weren’t supposed to be specifically a Too Darn Hot session, but there’s a huge appeal for mares in foal to him right now.
“It's a unique thing to be able to create for this market, setting up the digital sale in a way that allows these mares to stand out. Online selling is commonplace in Australia and New Zealand, so we thought this would be an appealing idea. We hope to build upon it in the future as online selling allows us to promote globally and the Inglis partnership assists with that.”
The Southern Hemisphere Session
In an innovative collaboration between Tattersalls Online and Inglis Digital, the December Sale will showcase eight mares in foal to Too Darn Hot (GB) to Southern Hemisphere time. Sire of Champion 2YO Colt Broadsiding in his first Australian crop, Too Darn Hot no longer shuttles to Australia.
“It’s ultimately become a Too Darn Hot sale but wasn’t intended that way. His success in the Southern Hemisphere with 9 per cent stakes winners to runners with 11 black type performers headlined by Broadsiding means that breeders have picked up on his success and that’s why the support for this sale, coincidentally, ended up being all about Too Darn Hot.”
The Group 1 winner has sired two Group 1 winners in the Northern Hemisphere with Fallen Angel (GB) in his first crop who are just concluding their 3-year-old season and juvenile Group 1 winner Hotazhell (GB). All up, he has 17 stakes winners from his first 240 runners.

“The mares are a nice selection showing the support from our vendors. They are pedigrees that should appeal to the Australian market, with a Zoustar and a Savabeel as well as the Champion South African filly. We feel that within this selection that there’s something for everyone.”

But wait, there's more
Headlining the 49 Horses-In-Training section of the catalogue is the highly progressive 3-year-old sprinter Fahrenheit Seven (GB) (Showcasing {GB}), who has won three of his last four starts for trainer Mark Usher.
With the main Horses-In-Training sales in Europe being very hot, astute Australian trainers might want to pick over this catalogue with some care to see if there are any improving European stayers in there.

“We hope we can build on this Southern Hemisphere Session idea for the future. It helps these mares stand out and the cross promotion has huge benefits. We’d be open to holding a sale in reverse, with mares in foal to I Am Invincible, Extreme Choice etc, to Northern Hemisphere time, which is a fun idea. That’s the beauty of online sales.

“Because of the unique relationship with Inglis that Tattersalls shares, everything is an option. It’s such a global market now, we have Australian buyers attending sales here all year around, with the horses in training and broodmares in particular, and this is an opportunity to be able to build on those sales and relationships. It complements each other.”
