Lindsay Park co-trainer Ben Hayes believes the buyer of his talented 3-year-old filly will not be disappointed when she is offered in a boutique Inglis Digital Online Sale early next week. Lightly raced Bold Bastille (Brazen Beau) was the most precocious 2-year-old of her generation. And she also has plenty of potential as a broodmare.

A gifted 3-year-old filly with plenty of good racing left in her - as well as high-quality broodmare potential - will be offered in a boutique Inglis Digital Online Sale early next week.

Lightly raced Bold Bastille (Brazen Beau) – the most precocious 2-year-old of her generation - is a four-time winner from just nine career starts, earning more than $750,000 in prizemoney.

As a top-class juvenile, she triumphed in four of her five starts as a 2-year-old, including the Listed Furphy Trophy, Listed Redoute’s Choice S. and the lucrative VOBIS Gold Rush.

That was after she debuted with a tough on-speed victory in the $500,000 R. Listed Inglis Banner, defeating eventual G1 Blue Diamond S. winner Hayasugi (Royal Meeting {Ire}) by 3l.

This performance led to The Ratings Bureau rating her higher than any other pre-New Year 2-year-old for the 2023-24 season, including Storm Boy (Justify {USA}), Straight Charge (Written By), Eneeza (Exceed And Excel), Traffic Warden (Street Boss {USA}) and Manaal (Tassort).

Lindsay Park co-trainer Ben Hayes said the buyer of his talented young sprinter would not be disappointed.

"She’s so fast, so strong, has such a great shoulder on her and just so straight forward to train," he said.

“She’s completely sound, she raced well last week (finishing eighth in the G3 Red Roses S.) and has plenty of racing left in her if that’s what her buyer chooses to do with her.”

A 'special' investment opportunity

For Inglis Victorian Bloodstock Manager, James Price, Bold Bastille represents a “special” opportunity for investors.

“She is a very appealing prospect – fast, good-looking and with a smart pedigree,” he said.

“There are a hell of a lot of races across the country for a filly like her through the balance of the racing season, and in time she is going to mate very well with a broad cross-section of the most commercial stallions in Australia and New Zealand.”

Bold Bastille's 3-year-old form includes a close fourth against the older horses in the Listed Carlyon S., behind eventual G1 Moir S. winner Mornington Glory (Shalaa {Ire}), as well as a second placing behind four-time stakes winner and Group 1-placed filly Bellatrix Star (Star Witness) in the Listed Cap d’Antibes S.

She is being offered as a top racing and breeding prospect on Inglis Digital.

Bold Bastille was a $270,000 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale purchase for her trainers Ben, Will and JD Hayes, along with Mathew Becker of Group 1 Bloodstock (FBAA).

Her dam, Chloe In Paris (Exceed And Excel) was a fast, on-speed stakes winner, while her grandam was top-class sprinter, Innovation Girl (Rubiton).

Bold Bastille a top broodmare prospect

Adding to her on-track potential, Becker has no doubt Bold Bastille would make an outstanding broodmare when the time comes.

“The commercial market really highly values precocity, and what you find in those really good-looking, fast 2-year-old type of yearlings like Bold Bastille is they generally go on and throw that in their own progeny,’’ he said.

"And I can see this filly producing that type of early 2-year-old herself.

“She’s got such a deep family behind her; the pedigree backs it up and I’m sure she’ll make a quality broodmare in time.

“She was so precocious, very natural, everything you want to see in a filly that will run at two, very forward, so well put-together, very correct.

“She just really stood out and a lot of good judges were on her at Inglis Premier.’’

Becker was blown away by Bold Bastille's win in start number one, the Listed Inglis Banner for 2-year-olds.

“That win on debut was quite breathtaking and the form around her has been elite; it really stood up time and again,’’ he said.

“Like we do with all our good fillies – Coolangatta, Sierra Sue and plenty of others – we essentially offer everything to the market, so somebody will be buying a dream mare and broodmare prospect.’’
