Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Three exciting runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Wednesday. These include a well-bred I Am Invincible 2-year-old colt making his debut at Caulfield and Snitzel and I Am Invincible 3-year-olds battle it out over 1200 metres at Warwick Farm.

Caulfield, Race 4, 3.25pm AEDT, Listed Magic Millions Debutant S., $175,000, 1000m

Jimmy Recard, 2-year-old colt (I Am Invincible x Aquamosa {NZ} {Alamosa {NZ}})

Caulfield’s Wednesday meeting will serve as the venue for the debut in the career of Jimmy Recard, a well-bred son of I Am Invincible from the Ciaron Maher stable. He looked like he had his fair share of talent when he jumped out at Cranbourne on September 23 and ran second behind Spring Air (Brazen Beau) who was a subsequent winner on debut at Sale.

Jimmy Recard is the fourth foal out of the handy filly Aquamosa (NZ) (Alamosa {NZ}). She was successful twice at 1100 and 1400 metres and also managed to place in the G3 Taranaki 2YO Classic as a juvenile.

Jimmy Recard has some solid blood within his pedigree, his second-dam Adalia (NZ) was a two-time winner and is a half-sister to the Singapore Champion Big Maverick (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}) and El Laoob (USA) (Red Ransom {USA}) who was stakes-placed in Great Britain.

Adalia’s dam Ajfan (USA) (Woodman {USA}) was Group 1 placed in the Ascot Fillies Mile and the 1000 Guineas in Great Britain and did a great job at stud leaving 10 winners.

Aquamosa since producing Jimmy Recard has left an I Am Invincible yearling filly and last spring carried on the ‘Vinny’ theme when getting served by his Group 1-winning son in Hellbent, she is due to foal to him anytime now.

Jimmy Recard was a $350,000 purchase by Bennett Racing and Ciaron Maher Bloodstock from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Warwick Farm, Race 3, 2.40pm AEDT, Drinkwise Plate, $100,000, 1200m

Socrazyinlove, 3-year-old filly (I Am Invincible x Special Lover {NZ} {Pins})

The Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald-trained royally bred I Am Invincible filly Socrazyinlove will debut at Warwick Farm on Wednesday over 1200 metres after winning her latest trial at Warwick Farm on September 30 over 811 metres by 2.9l when defeating Cheeky Dancer (Menari).

Her dam Special Lover (NZ) (Pins) was a stakes-placed filly on the track in the Listed Hill Smith S. As a broodmare she has made a super start, she has left two individual winners including Miss Roseiano (Exceed And Excel) who was the winner of the G3 Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) and then sold to Tom Magnier for $1,275,000 at the 2023 Inglis Digital Online July Sale and has since produced a filly by Coolmore Stud’s Justify (USA). Her second winner is Easy Single (Not A Single Doubt) who has been a very handy metropolitan sprinter winning five times in Melbourne and Sydney.

A descendant of - the famed matriarch Eight Carat (GB) (Pieces Of Eight {Ire}) - Socrazyinlove comes from an outstanding family. Other successful group-performers within her pedigree are Don Eduardo (NZ), Tristalove (NZ) (Sir Tristram {Ire}), Viscount, Shower Of Roses (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), Viking Ruler (Danehill {USA}), Kempinsky and Gift Of Power (NZ) (Power {GB}).

Special Lover since producing Socrazyinlove has left an I Am Invincible yearling filly and unfortunately missed to Toronado (Ire) last spring.

Socrazyinlove was a $1,100,000 purchase by TFI from the draft of Noorilim Park at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Warwick Farm, Race 3, 2.40pm, AEDT, Drinkwise Plate., $100,000, 1200m

Manos, 3-year-old colt (Snitzel x Carry On Alice {SAf} {Captain Al} {SAf}})

Warwick Farm’s Wednesday meeting will serve as the venue for the third start for Manos, a regally bred son of Snitzel from the Peter Snowden stable at Randwick. He performed well in his first campaign, at his first start he run a solid fourth at Canterbury on June 10 when he ran on solidly from back in the field behind the promising Steel Strike (Exceed And Excel) and then he ran a close-up second behind Bitten By Bary (D’Argento) at Newcastle on June 29.

After having a break after his juvenile campaign he has prepared for this race with two solid efforts at the trials where he has run two very good close-up seconds at Canterbury and Rosehill.

Manos is the third foal out of the talented South African mare, Carry On Alice (SAf) (Captain Al {SAf}). She was successful 11-times in South Africa including in five Group 1 races and another two Group races. She has also made a promising start to her broodmare career leaving Altruist (Snitzel) who has won twice and placed fourth in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (Colts and Geldings).

Manos grandam Carry On Katie (SAf) (Western Winter {USA}) was also a talented mare in South Africa, she saluted the judge four times including the G2 Greyville Debutante S., as well as managing eight stakes placings throughout her career.

Carry On Alice since producing Manos, has delivered a Snitzel 2-year-old filly, a The Autumn Sun yearling filly and is due to foal next month to Arrowfield Stud’s star stallion Snitzel again.

Manos was a $1,100,000 purchase by China Horse Club, Newgate, Go Bloodstock and Trilogy from the draft of Arrowfield Stud at the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Looking Back

She's Got Pizzazz (Zoustar) won nicely at Kilmore, she won with a bit in hand and looks like stepping up to better company will be no problem.

Calvary (Hellbent) broke his maiden at Murwillumbah in good fashion. He burst through the field nicely late after travelling in a midfield position throughout.
