Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Two exciting 3-year-old runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Tuesday. These include a Zoustar full sister to the Group 1 winner Mizzy chasing maiden success at Kilmore and a promising Hellbent gelding looks hard to beat at Murwillumbah.

She’s Got Pizzazz, 3-year-old filly (Zoustar x Missy Cummings {Magnus})
The well-related and good-looking filly She’s Got Pizzazz is set to make her fourth start at Kilmore over 1100 metres. She has placed in all three of her career starts behind talented types Blue Renegade (Blue Point {Ire}), Heinous (Brutal {NZ}) and Benagil (Manhattan Rain).
She’s Got Pizzazz is the fifth live foal from the Magnus mare Missy Cummings. She was the winner of the Listed James HB Carr S. on the track and has had success as a broodmare already leaving the classy Mizzy. She was a five-time winner with her standout wins coming in the G1 Canterbury S. G2 Golden Pendant S. G2 Sheraco S. and the G3 Toy Show H.
In more recent times Mizzy sold at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale fetching $2.2 million to the bid of Tom Magnier. So far Mizzy has produced a Wootton Bassett (GB) 2-year-old filly that was purchased by Kingsclere Stables Limited for $375,000 and has been exported to New Zealand, a yearling filly by Farnan and is due to foal to Snitzel.
Zoustar has a strong affinity with broodmares that carry Danehill (USA) directly through their sireline, She’s Got Pizzazz has this through Magnus. Successful examples of stakes-winners that have this extended Zoustar/Danehill cross are Schwarz, Zougotcha, Mizzy, Joliestar, Ozzmosis, Climbing Star, Haut Brion Her, Zourion, North Star Lass, Growing Empire, The Astrologist, Mumbai Muse, Sun City and Platinum Jubilee.
Missy Cummings since producing She’s Got Pizzazz has left a 2-year-old filly by Zoustar named In A Tizzy, a yearling colt by So You Think (NZ) and unfortunately missed to Zoustar last spring.

This promising gelding is the second foal from the Pluck (USA) mare Plucky Girl, who was an eight-time winner up to 1400 metres and Listed placed on the track. Her first foal Booming Fast (Spirit Of Boom) has already been a winner over 1000 metres at Townsville this season.
Plucky Girl is also a half-sister to the talented Vanna Girl (Husson {Arg}) who was a classy eight-time winner on the track from 1300 metres to 1800 metres.
Plucky Girl since producing Calvary has left a 2-year-old colt named Invincible Salex (North Pacific), a yearling colt by Pierata and is due to foal to Wild Ruler later this month.
Calvary was passed in short of his reserve at the 2023 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
