Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Two exciting 3-year-old runners are set to hit the track across Australia on Sunday, including a Street Boss (USA) filly on debut at Dubbo and a well-bred The Autumn Sun filly debuts on the Sunshine Coast.
Dubbo, Race 1, 1pm AEST, Stridyl/Australian Turf Club Foundation Country Boosted Showcase Mdn Plate, $40,000, 1000m
Joy Of The World, 3-year-old filly (Street Boss {USA} x All Joy {Lonhro})
The Bathurst-based trainer Dean Mirfin saddles up Joy Of The World to make her debut over 1000 metres at Dubbo on Sunday.
This promising filly is the first foal from the Lonhro mare All Joy, who only had one start on the track. She is a full sister to the smart 2-year-old Kangarilla Joy (Lonhro) who was a three-time winner at 1100 metres and placed in the G2 Light Fingers S. Kangarilla Joy had a short career as a broodmare only leaving two foals but they were both talented with Unflinching (I Am Invincible) being a six-time winner and Snitzaroo (Snitzel) who has so far won two races in his career.
The family page is a little quiet up close in regards to stakes horses but there are plenty of top-class horses that feature deeper within the page. Some of these horses are Ulmann (Sebring), Candika (Sebring), Astrodame (Flying Spur), Greyworm (Master Of Design), Woppitt (Danzero), Rock Classic (Fastnet Rock) and Midnight Fever (Luskin Star).
All Joy since producing Joy Of The World has left a yearling filly by Flying Artie and earlier this month foaled a filly by All Too Hard.
Joy Of The World was purchased by Brett Thompson Racing from the draft of Kenmore Lodge for a value price of $45,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.
Sunshine Coast, Race 1, 12.45pm AEST, Rosa Italian QTIS 3YO Mdn Plate, $30,000, 1400m
Top Level, 3-year-old filly (The Autumn Sun x Lights Of Heaven {NZ} {Zabeel {NZ}})
Bred and raced by Mrs J M Wanless, the well-bred Top Level is set to debut over 1400 metres for Eagle Farm trainer Desleigh Forster at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday in the hands of jockey Robbie Dolan.
Top Level is a daughter of Arrowfield Stud’s The Autumn Sun and is out of the Zabeel (NZ) mare Lights Of Heaven. She was a classy eight-time winner and these wins included the G1 Schweppes Oaks, G2 Eagle Farm Cup, G2 AD Hollindale S. and the G3 Neville Sellwood S.
She has already made her mark at stud leaving five-individual winners including the talented gelding He’s Heaven (Zoustar) who was successful in the Listed Oaklands P. Angel Of Heaven (Redoute’s Choice) who was successful three-times and ran second in the G3 Grand Prix S. and fourth in the G1 Queensland Oaks. Road To Heaven (High Chaparral (Ire) was a three-time winner, My Xanadu (Fastnet Rock) who has been successful twice and Lumber Dream (Snitzel) who has saluted the judge six-times.
Other successful stakes-performers within this page are Alamosa (NZ) who was a 4-time Group 1 winner and successful Stallion, the Group 1 winning juvenile Dal Cielo (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) as well as Cent From Heaven (NZ) (Centaine), Eloa (NZ) (Volksraad {GB}) and Running On Time (NZ) (Time Test {GB}).
Lights Of Heaven, since producing Top Level has unfortunately only left a two-year-old colt by So You Think (NZ).
Looking Back
Melo (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) was disappointing running a well-beaten fifth, she raced greenly so could improve with the experience.
Ikasara (I Am Invincible) ran a solid race, he kicked up and led throughout and only faded late to run third. Some valuable black type gained for this well-bred colt.
Sagaponack (Snitzel) was good running third on debut at Canberra, she also led and only faded late in the piece.
