Looking Ahead - August 25

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Two exciting 3-year-olds that are both by Exceedance are set to hit the track at Goulburn on Sunday. Including a filly out of a Medaglia D'Oro (USA) mare that has solid form and a colt that has a strong Vinery Stud influence as he is out of a stakes-performed All Too Hard mare.

Goulburn, Race 1, 12.30pm AEST, Jewell Builders Country Boosted Mdn Showcase Plate, $40,000, 1200m

Dekadance, 3-year-old filly (Exceedance x Something Silver {Medaglia D’Oro {USA}})

The Danielle Seib-trained Dekadance will run on her home track at Goulburn on Sunday to have her third start over 1200 metres. On debut she ran a great race for third at Wagga behind the promising Time Angel (O’Lonhro) and at her second start she ran a nice second at Moruya behind Amont (Headwater). With this solid form behind her she deserves maiden success at start number three

The promising filly is by Vinery Stud’s exciting son of Exceed And Excel in Exceedance and is the first foal from the Medaglia D’Oro mare Something Silver who was a six-time winner from 1100 metres to 1600 metres in Victoria.

The family page is full of winners but is a little quiet up close in regards to stakes horses but has some lovely pedigree influences throughout including Danehill (USA), Thorn Park, Sadler’s Wells (USA), Brocco (USA), Fastnet Rock, Royal Academy (USA) and Roberto (USA).

Since producing Dekadance, Something Silver has produced a 2-year-old colt named Mega Mastermind (Deep Field) that has been exported to New Zealand, a yearling colt by Bivouac and was due to foal again to Bivouac this month.

Dekadance was purchased from the Twin Hills Stud draft for $25,000 to C Fitzpatrick from last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Cristal Clear, 3-year-old colt (Exceedance x Cristal Eyes {All Too Hard})

Victoria’s Noorilim Park sold this son of Exceedance to Group 1 Thoroughbreds/Annabel Neasham Racing for $50,000 at last year’s Inglis Ready2Race Sale.

He made his debut at Gosford in March and was a solid fifth in a very good form race with the promising Last Command (Tassort) being the winner, the stakes-placed Just Party (Justify {USA}) running second and the outstanding, dual Group 1-winning juvenile Broadsiding (Too Darn Hot {GB}) running third.

First-up this preparation after a little break he ran a close-up second at Wyong behind Zousain Bolt (Zousain), he does look ready to gain maiden success on the back of his two promising runs in his career so far.

Cristal Clear’s dam Cristal Eyes (All Too Hard) was handy on the track winning three times and managing a third placing in the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders’ S.

She also is well-related being a three-quarter sister to Villermont who is now a stallion, but as a racehorse was successful in the G2 Sandown Guineas and the G3 Gunsynd C. Flying Evelyn (Not A Single Doubt) who was successful in the G3 Red Roses S., is another half-sibling that has been well perfomed.

Cristal Eyes, since leaving Cristal Clear has produced a 2-year-old filly by So You Think (NZ) and unfortunately missed to both Star Turn and Farnan last spring.

Looking Back

Fine Future (Jpn) (Fine Needle {Jpn}) ran a very good race resuming for second, he should progress from that.

Truth Or Dare (NZ) (Vanbrugh) was solid running third, it did look a strong maiden race and he is a 3-year-old to watch in New Zealand this season.

Creativity Miss (Written Tycoon) had no luck when trapped wide throughout, she stuck to her guns well for fourth. With a softer run she will be winning soon.
