Tahnee Tiara topped Inglis' July (Late) Online Sale with a $545,000 price tag as dam of Socks Nation, the recent G1 Queensland Oaks winner. Meanwhile, an 8% share in Mr Brightside also drew significant attention in the auction, but passed in with a reserve of $280,000.

Despite the offer creating plenty of interest, Mr Brightside did not find himself with a new part-owner, the bidding on the share Lindsay Park trained galloper getting to $275,000 with a reserve of $280,000.

Topping the sale with a price tag of $545,000 was the ten-year-old Tahnee Tiara (Commands), the city placed seven times winner who has produced as her first foal this year's G1 Queensland Oaks winner Socks Nation (Sioux Nation {USA}).

Purchased by Walnut Farm from her owner/breeder Ian Millard, she was sold in foal to North Pacific who is also the sire of her 2023 born filly.

It's an interesting pedigree with a 4 X 4 cross of Octagonal (NZ) noting that Commands is out of a half-sister to that great galloper.

More to come for Tahnee Tiara

There is more to come for Tahnee Tiara whose yearling colt is by Ghaiyyath (Ire) (passed in at the Adelaide Magic Millions) and whose two-year-old Eye Of Light (All Too Hard) is a $170,000 Inglis Classic graduate who, on the back of a Flemington jump-out win, headed to Hong Kong late last month.

Tahnee Tiara, who was also in the placings 17 times from her 43 starts, is one of the seven winners produced by the multiple city winner Tahnee Topaz (Lonhro) with the best of her's being the Listed Levin S. winning Group 1 placegetter Evalina (I Am Invincible).

There is plenty of depth to Tahnee Tiara's pedigree with her third dam being the excellent producer Pride Of Tahnee (Best Western), dam of the Group 1 winners Shogun Lodge (Grand Lodge {USA}), Referral (Dr Grace {NZ}) and Singing The Blues (Bluebird {USA}).

She has been purchased with a mating to Panthalassa (Jpn) in mind and Ian Millard was happy with the result.

“To be honest I wasn’t looking to sell her but I was advised by (Inglis’ Senior Bloodstock Consultant) Harry (Bailey) and we decided to test the market and this result is very, very good, he said.

"It's a wonderful family but I’ve got three half-sisters to her so it’s not like I’m out of the family altogether.

“I was delighted with the way Harry and the Inglis team handled everything and I’m very pleased that she’s gone to a great home.”

Another six six-figure sellers

Another six horses fetched six figures with the second highest seller being the consistent mare Anagain (Hinchinbrook) who was secured by her part-owners, Ken Reed and Scott Rossow's Double R Thoroughbreds for $180,000.

“We held 30 per cent of her anyway and the fairest way for everything to play out was to put her on Inglis Digital and see what happened," Ken Reed explained.

“Our intention now is to add her to our broodmare band, which is growing, and we have interests in a few stallions so we’ll spend a bit of time now sitting down and working out the best match for her and making that decision down the track.

“We obviously wanted to get her a bit cheaper than we did but it’s a fair price, we thought she’d make her $150,000 and above so everyone is happy in the end really.”

Anagain was in winning form at Rosehill just two starts ago and that success was the third (all in city class) of her 31 start career, one which has seen her earn black-type with a G3 Kindergarten S. second to Darley's Paulele.

It was the second time that Anagain has gone through Inglis' digital sales ring, purchased by Kitchwin Hills for $265,000 at this same sale two years ago.

She is one of three winners for the Hawkesbury winner Doagain (Falbrav {Ire}) whose Group 2 placed half-sister Marrego (Marscay) produced the five time Group 1 winner Eremein (Timber Country {USA}), the Group 3 winner Peace Force (Bernardini {USA}) and the Listed winner Gliding (Flying Spur).

The latter two mares are both at stud, Peace Force served last year by Ole Kirk having foaled a colt by him last spring whilst Gliding was served by State Of Rest having had a colt by Captivant.

Another one for Panthalassa

Another purchase for Walnut Farm (and another due to visit Panthalassa) was the 11-year-old Miss Antaeus (I Am Invincible), a Warwick Farm debut winner who at her second start was a fast finishing third in the Listed Woodlands S. at Scone.

A daughter of the Group 3 placed multiple city winner Crestfallen (Rivotious {USA}), she was already known to Yulong who paid $520,000 for her son Earth God (Written Tycoon) at Easter last year; that Anthony & Sam Freedman trained two-year-old recording an easy Geelong maiden win last month.

Closely related to the tough G3 Festival S. winner Testashadow (Testa Rossa), Miss Antaeus was sold in foal to the leading first season sire Too Darn Hot (GB) whose progeny look like being worth all the more now that he is unlikely to return to Australia.

Miss Antaeus' impending foal by him will have an interesting pedigree with her dam sire Rivotious being a half-brother to Too Darn Hot's dam sire Singspiel (Ire), providing for a 4 X 4 cross of high class race and broodmare Glorious Song (Can) (Halo {USA}).

Promising 3-year-old changes hands

Purchased by the Hong Kong based Philip Ho for $160,000 was the sale's highest priced gelding Le Parrain (Street Boss).

The 3-year-old former member of the Ciaron Maher stable has raced on eight occasions, breaking his maiden at Gosford last spring and taking out a BM64 contest at Bendigo in late May.

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase as a yearling, he is out of the unraced Notre Dame (Exceed And Excel) whose dam is the four time Group 1 winner Divine Madonna (Hurricane Sky).

Meanwhile Normandy Racing were the successful bidders for Luna Rocks (Hellbent), a two times winner who was sold as as Magic Millions yearling for $360,000.

A Warwick Farm winner at two, she is one of the five winners for the two times winner Fimatino (Not A Single Doubt) whose son Shaquero (Shalaa {Ire}) won the RL Magic Millions 2YO Classic, the G3 Pago Pago S. and the G3 Breeders Plate.

Hailing from the immediate family of Shamus Award, Luna Rocks has some nice siblings coming through; her half-brother by Capitalist purchased by James Harron for $800,000 at the Gold Coast in January whilst her dam also has a filly by I Am Invincible.

Steven Cole secures Customized

The first of two horses to fetch $100,000 was Customized (Capitalist), a two-year-old colt who for the Peter & Paul Snowden stable has raced four times.

Purchased by Steven Cole Racing Stables, the $400,000 Magic Millions graduate looks close to a win having finished second in a Newcastle maiden a couple of weeks ago.

He already has black-type having run on nicely when a debut third behind Storm Boy (Justify {USA}) in the G3 BJ McLachlan S. at his debut last December.

Also selling for $100,000, purchased by the Lofty Thoroughbred Group, was Not To Be Caught (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}).

A ten-year-old placed mare from the family of the multiple Group 1 winner Atlantic Jewel (Fastnet Rock), she was sold in foal to Russian Revolution.

That mating is an interesting one, one which provides for crosses of two lovely mares within five generations; Dancing Show (USA) (Nijinsky {Can}) via her grandsons Redoute's Choice and Al Maher and Special (USA) (Forli {Arg}) via her son Nureyev (USA) and grandson Sadler's Wells (USA).

Not To Be Caught's first foal Russian Escape is also by Russian Revolution and that $220,000 Inglis Classic graduate showed ability during his first (summer/autumn) campaign for the Mark & Levi Kavanagh stable.

A total of 388 horses were catalogued with 289 (76.25 per cent) sold. The sale grossed $3,824,551 with an average of $13,234 and a median of $3,501.
