A juvenile race in Randwick filled with pricey progeny and a full brother to a tough WA galloper makes his debut in Perth.

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner early in its career chasing maiden success, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Several expensive juveniles step out at Randwick on Saturday against each other, while in WA a full brother to the tough galloper Red Can Man makes his debut.

Mayfair, 2-year-old colt (Fastnet Rock-Cicatrix (USA), by Violence {USA})

With the scratching of $1.3million filly I Found You (I Am Invincible), the field for race one at Randwick is wide open but still contains several exciting juveniles with strong pedigrees. Carnegie Hill (I Am Invincible) was featured in a Looking Ahead earlier this week and runs here after Kembla Grange was postponed.

Two juveniles on debut in this race catch the eye, with Gai-Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Mayfair (Fastnet Rock) being the more expensive. He cost $625,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, sold by Newgate Farm to a syndicate that includes themselves, Go Bloodstock, China Horse Club and Trilogy Racing. He’s won two barrier trials heading into this and looks promising.
