Warwick Farm: Listed Civic S., $200,000, 1400m

Putting in the big strides late to claim Saturday's postponed Listed Civic C. in smart fashion, Diamond Diesel (Mossman) became his consistently classy late sire's 43rd stakes winner.

Bred by Echo Beach Bloodstock, he was sold by Vinery Stud to Hawkes Racing for $65,000 at the 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

He is one of three winners (from four named foals) for the lightly raced (unplaced in three outings) Malacca Cane (Big Brown {USA}) who last year foaled a colt by Saxon Warrior (Jpn).

Not having a lot of luck in recent years, she has as her previous foal the lightly raced Shane Nichols trained three-year-old Starlacca (Star Turn) who won her maiden at Mornington in January.

Malacca Cane is out of the dual city winner Malapert (Encosta De Lago) who did a good job with her ten winners including the G2 Autumn Classic winner Stokehouse (Anabaa {USA}) and the Listed Blue Diamond Preview winner Malasun (Red Ransom {USA}) - dam of the Listed Calaway S. winner Malaboom (Spirit Of Boom).

Also grandam of the Listed Anniversary S. winner Regardsmaree (So You Think {NZ}), Malapert is out of the Flemington winner Brazenne (The Pug {GB}) whose Listed winning half-sister Gay Tulip (Gay Bachelor) produced the Listed winner Valdazair (Noalcoholic {Fr}).

Further back this is the family of the outstanding galloper and successful stallion Rubiton.
