Lot 492 - Tivaci x Toss Up (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), colt, NZ$95,000

Buyer: First Light Racing / Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott Racing / Chris Rutten Bloodstock (BAFNZ)

Vendor: Waikato Stud

Leading bloodstock agent Chris Rutten of Chris Rutten Bloodstock (BAFNZ) was pleasantly surprised when the gavel came down on Lot 492 for NZ$95,000. Rutten purchased the Tivaci colt in conjunction with syndicators First Light Racing and Tulloch Lodge trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

Consigned by Waikato Stud as Lot 492, the colt is out of the winning Zabeel (NZ) mare Toss Up (NZ). She has produced five foals, with her best performer being the Group 1-winning star Aegon (NZ) (Sacred Falls {NZ}). Toss Up has also thrown the stakes performer Even Chance (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}).

“He’s a lovely horse, a really free-moving colt, and I thought he was well-bought,” Rutten told The Thoroughbred Report.

“He has a great attitude and we’re very happy with him.

“We’re rapt to get him at the price.”

The colt’s page features a host of stakes winners, including the elite-level scorers Daffodil (NZ) (No Excuse Needed {GB}) and Atishu (NZ) (Savabeel).

“He looks a nice middle-distance horse, just the way he moves, and he’s not too heavy,” Rutten added.

“He’s extremely well-balanced, with a good temperament.”
