Looking Ahead - August 20

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

On Sunday the spotlight falls on Cranbourne where two promising debutants from the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young stable will step-out, while a promising galloper owned by Godolphin from the Anthony and Sam Freedman camp looks to break her maiden as a 3-year-old.

Invincible Idea, 3-year-old filly (I Am Invincible x Pioneering {Sebring})

Cranbourne-based trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young will debut Invincible Idea, a daughter of the Champion Sire I Am Invincible, at their home track on Sunday.

Furthermore, this is the family of Conserve (USA) (Boundary {USA}) who claimed the G2 Firecracker H. at Churchill Downs and the G2 Maker's Mark Mile at Keeneland in his 10 career victories.

Invincible Idea was a $200,000 purchase by Busuttin Racing from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Austmarr, 3-year-old filly (Exosphere x Itameri {Exceed And Excel})

Anthony and Sam Freedman will send out Austmarr at Cranbourne on Sunday. The daughter of Exosphere showed ability in her first preparation as a 2-year-old and will look to break her maiden at start three.

The filly is the fifth foal from the Exceed And Excel mare Itameri. She won over 900 metres and ran fourth in the Listed Ottawa S.

Itameri has proven a fantastic producer. Her first foal Skagerrak (Dawn Approach {Ire}), emulated her dam by winning over 900 metres. However, she is the dam of Krakarib (Ribchester {Ire}) who is a Group 3 winner.

Itameri herself is the dam of Hanseatic, a winner of the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude (Colts and Geldings) and Frost Flowers (Frosted {USA}) who was placed at Group 3 level.

Furthermore, this is the family of Black Caviar (Bel Esprit), All Too Hard and Ole Kirk.

Womanizer (NZ), 3-year-old colt (Almanzor {Fr} x Girl Of My Dreams {NZ} {Gold Centre})

On Sunday, local trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young will be well-represented at their home track. Among their runners include the debutant Womanizer (NZ), a son of Almanzor (Fr).

The colt is the fourth foal from the Gold Centre mare Girl Of My Dreams (NZ). She won seven races from 1000 to 1800 metres, including the G3 Taranaki Cup.

Girl Of My Dreams was placed in the G1 Bonecrusher New Zealand S. and ran fourth in the G1 Diamond S.

Furthermore, this is the family of the late Rolling Pin (NZ) (Pins), a winner of the G2 Shannon S. and the G3 Cameron H.

The son of Pins was placed in the G1 Epsom H. and ran fourth in the G1 All Aged S.

Womanizer was a NZ$145,000 purchase by Haunui Farm at the 2021 New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling Sale. Hallmark Stud then reoffered the colt at the 2022 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale, where Busuttin Racing, Andrew Campbell Bloodstock and Group 1 Racing paid NZ$280,000 for him.

Looking Back
