Caulfield: G3 Sir John Monash S., $200,000, 1100m
Sigh, a daughter of No Nay Never (USA), made it three wins in a row after taking out the G3 Sir John Monash S., which brought her record to six wins and one second from nine starts. The result also gave apprentice Carleen Hefel her first stakes win.
The mare is out of Fantasize (Authorized {Ire}) who is a half-sister to Group 1-placed Mr Sneaky (High Chaparral {Ire}) and Group 2-placed Mr So And So (So You Think {NZ}). The strong female line continues with the second dam Danesty (Danehill {USA}) being a full sister to Group 1 winner Danestorm (Danehill {USA}) as well as a half-sister to Stormy Choice (Redoute’s Choice), dam of Group 2 winner Furore (NZ) (Pierro) and Group 3 winner Blizzard (Starcraft {NZ}).
Sigh, who is the first foal for Fantasize, was bred by Matrix Bloodstock and prepared by Tyreel Stud where she sold at the 2019 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale to Yulong Investment for $85,000. The dam also has an unraced 3-year-old Dreamtime Miss (Pride Of Dubai) trained by Michael Moroney and Pam Gerard in New Zealand as well as a 2-year-old full sister to Sigh and a weanling colt by Contributer (Ire).
No Nay Never has had great success in Great Britain and Ireland, with this being his third stakes winner in Australia.
Randwick: Listed Winter S., $160,000, 1400m
Ucalledit (NZ) (Zacinto {GB}) carried the top weight, but made it back-to-back wins after taking out the Listed Civic S. last start. The win gave apprentice Dylan Gibbons his fourth win for the day, while trainer Kris Lees and Australian Bloodstock took out the quinella, with Acquitted (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}) running second.
The winner is out of Special Bay (Al Maher) and was bred by W Lawton. The second dam Go With The Wind (Song Of Tara {Ire}) is a full sister to Listed winner Special Song (Song Of Tara {Ire}) as well as being a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Bomber Bill (Air De France {USA}) and Group 3 winner Camargue (Air De France {USA}). Group 1 winners in the family also include the third dam Special (Habituate {Ire}) and Kahma Lass (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}).
Ucalledit was sold to Mr KT Myers for just NZ$15,000 after being prepared by Grangewilliam Stud to the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale Book 3. He has now won over half-a-million dollars for connections.
Belmont: Listed Beaufine S., $125,000, 1000m
Ghost Who Walks (God Has Spoken) recorded his 10th career win and fourth win in his last six starts having won the sole feature race at Belmont today, the Beaufine S. The win gave Keshaw Dhurun his first Listed victory, while it was a full circle moment for Neville Parnham who not only trained his sire but the dam Death Knock (Lonhro) as well.
Death Knock has produced four named foals, all of whom have been winners. She also has two full brothers to Ghost Who Walks on the ground, a yearling and weanling.
While this is the first black-type win for Ghost Who Walks, who was bred by Mr C Loxton, the dam is a half-sister to the Listed winner Raido (Hussson {Arg}). The third dam, Misinterpret (Minster C {USA}) is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Regal Chamber (Archregent {Can}) dam of Group 1 winner Regal Cheer (Arena), while also in the family is Listed winner and Group 1-placed My Lady’s Chamber (Arena), dam of Group 3 winner Highlad (High Chaparral {Ire}).
This victory is God Has Spoken’s first black-type win and he stands at Rivercrest Park in Western Australia for $3300 (inc GST) this season.
