Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Wednesday's selections include a colt from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable that brings a huge international pedigree to Kembla Grange, while Ballarat will see the debut of a colt related to a multiple Group 1 winner.

King Colorado, 2-year-old colt (Kingman {GB} x More Aspen {USA} {More Than Ready {USA}})

Trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace will debut a colt by Kingman (GB) named King Colorado, he has an outstanding international family.

King Colorado is the fourth foal from the More Than Ready (USA) mare More Aspen (USA). She was a winner of the Listed Singspiel S. at Meydan, she was also placed in the G2 Cape Verdi S.

More Aspen hails from a family that includes the incredible Dubai Millennium (GB), the stallion was crowned the Champion Older Male in Great Britain, a winner of such races like the G1 Dubai World Cup at Nad al Sheba the and G1 Prince Of Wales S.

Dubai Millennium’s legacy is carried on through the marvellous Dubawi (Ire).

Furthermore, this is the family of Ribchester (Ire), the Champion Older Male Miler in Europe in 2017 and Timber Country (USA) who was the Champion 2-Year-Old Colt in the USA in 1994, he also won the G1 Preakness S. at Pimlico and placed in the G1 Kentucky Derby during his Classic year.

The colt is raced in an ownership group that includes Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.

Snappy Tycoon, 3-year-old colt (Written Tycoon x Madotti {Falvelon})

Formerly known under the moniker ‘Maronelli’, and was in the care of John, Wayne and Michael Hawkes. The newly named Snappy Tycoon is now trained by the Kyneton-based Danielle Chapman, of which the Chapman family are in the ownership of the 3-year-old colt.

Snappy Tycoon is the first foal from the Falvelon mare Madotti. She was a winner of the G3 Vo Rogue Plate and was precocious enough to run fourth in the R. Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Snappy Tycoon’s third dam is the Group 3-placed Curacao (Whiskey Road {USA}) and this is the family of Jolly Old Mac (NZ) (Mr. Mcginty {NZ}), who won the G1 Australian Guineas and the G1 Goodwood H. in addition to the G3 Standish H.

An outstanding galloper Jolly Old Mac was also placed in the G1 CF Orr S. and G2 Blamey S.

The colt was a $425,000 yearling purchase by Commendable Bloodstock from the draft of Glenlogan Park at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Looking Back

Tuesday's selections didn't have much luck with both Aayla Secura (Invader) and Pride Of Shalaa (Shalaa {Ire}) both unplaced.
