G2 Expressway S., $200,000, 1200m

No surprise to see Anamoe (Street Boss {USA}) open a short-priced favourite in his attempt to become the second James Cummings/Godolphin winner in a row in this race - Savatiano (Street Cry {Ire}) from the same sire-line successful last year.

He has trialled soundly for his return and whilst he has been beaten in his two Rosehill starts, they were gallant seconds in the G1 Golden Slipper S. and the G1 Golden Rose S.

Standout (Exceed And Excel) can perform well fresh off a Rosehill trial third behind Nature Strip (Nicconi). Also good in that trial was Forbidden Love (All Too Hard) who has won two of her three fresh assignments.

Superium (Verrazano {USA}) was good at the Gold Coast when resuming whilst a winner of a million-dollar race. Tiger Of Malay (Extreme Choice) has been consistent in good company and has a good first-up record.

G3 Canonbury S., $160,000, 1100m

It has been six years since a horse not from the Danehill (USA) (Danzig {USA}) sireline has won this race but favoured to break that run this year is the debutant Great Barrier Reef (I Am Invincible), a $1.4 million purchase out of the dual Group 1 winner Cosmic Endeavour (Northern Meteor).

Also by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) is Zambezi River, another seven-figure yearling whose debut run in the G3 Breeders' Plate in the spring was full of merit.

Flashing Steel (Not A Single Doubt) was favourite at Rosehill two weeks ago and was strong to the line despite being galloped on in a race not really run to suit.

Rakomelo (Lonhro) and Robusto (Churchill {Ire}) are others to have shown promise at debut whilst Best Of Bordeaux (a Snitzel colt line-bred to the great mare Best In Show {USA} by Traffic Judge {USA}) and Mellencamp (an Impending gelding boasting an Eight Carat {GB} by Pieces Of Eight {Ire} cross) are both trial winners.

G3 Widden S., $160,000, 1100m

It could be a good day for I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) who is represented here by the exciting Ebhaar who has won a Warwick Farm trial since taking out the Listed Merson Cooper S. at debut in October. By the same sire is Mumbai Jewel who was second in that trial having been good to the line at her spring debut from a tricky gate.

Queen Of The Ball is another of the breed who was green but good at debut.

Ojai (Exceed And Excel) also showed good promise during the spring as did Drisana (Merchant Navy) and Pantonario (Not A Single Doubt) who showed good speed when resuming earlier in the month.
