CatWalk charity auction closing

The Magic Millions 2021 Darley for CatWalk Sale charity auction, featuring the final nomination to Darley stallion Too Darn Hot (GB), will close at 4pm AEST on Thursday, July 29.

Darley and Watership Down Stud combined to offer the nomination to raise funds for the New Zealand-based CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Research Trust.

Too Darn Hot, a Group 1-winning son of star sire Dubawi (Ire) will cover his second book of mares at Darley NSW for a service fee of $44,000 (inc GST).

First for Yes Yes Yes

The first foal by Everest winner Yes Yes Yes was born at Rosemont Stud on Wednesday morning when Luck Favours (Starspangledbanner) produced a colt. ‘He’s a really smashing colt and has plenty of strength and a good shape,” said a delighted Anthony Mithen. “He’s born early to go early!”

Luck Favours is by the Champion sprinter and Group 1 sire Starspangledbanner while her dam is a half-sister to the G1 The Galaxy winner Sweet Idea (Snitzel) and dual Group 2 winner Showtime.

Champion 3-year-old Yes Yes Yes proved himself one of the fastest horses ever from the outstanding Encosta De Lago sireline when winning The Everest as a 3-year-old and the G2 Todman as a 2-year-old, both in record time at Randwick. He stands at Coolmore Australia for a fee of $38,500 (inc GST).

Blueblood salutes

Jadida (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}) marked the first winner for 2013 G1 Blue Diamond S. heroine Miracles Of Life (Not A Single Doubt) when saluting at Randwick on Wednesday.

Given a patient ride by star hoop Rachel King, Jadida quickened impressively to hold out a fast-finishing Latin Lyric (Wandjina).

“She showed a really nice turn of foot today, and there is a little bit of upside to her,” Godolphin representative, Darren Beadman, said.

Jadida was a $1 million 2019 Magic Millions Gold Cost Yearling Sale purchase by Godolphin via the draft of Coolmore Stud.

Najmaty on track

Co-trainer Paul Snowden is delighted by the condition of stakes-winning filly Najmaty (I Am Invincible) ahead of the upcoming spring racing carnival.

Snowden, who trains in partnership with his father Peter, told RSN927 on Wednesday that the Emirates Park-owned 2-year-old will kickstart her campaign in Melbourne next month.

Toeroek riding high

Leading South Australian-based hoop Jake Toeroek notched up his 500th career winner aboard the Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Free Wilma (Nicconi) at Balaklava on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old has ridden 49 metropolitan winners in South Australia this season.

"It's obviously taken me a while to get 500 winners, I probably would have liked to get there a bit sooner,” Toeroek told Racing.com.

Incentivise arrives

G1 Melbourne Cup and Caulfield Cup favourite Incentivise (Shamus Award) arrived safely in the care of Pakenham-based trainer Peter Moody on Wednesday morning.

SEN Track host Andrew Bensley reported that the rising 5-year-old got “stuck straight into the feed bin” before trotting over 800 metres.

Stars fined

Superstar jockeys Hugh Bowman and James McDonald have each been fined $1000 after a Racing NSW investigation into an alleged breach of Queensland’s COVID-19 protocols.

Bowman told stewards: “We were getting mixed messages about what we could and couldn’t do, it was very confusing."

Tsunami en route

Exciting New Zealand-based 2-year-old Tsunami Sam (NZ) (Shamexpress {NZ}) will continue his racing career on Australian shores after being sold to clients of Lindsay Park Racing this week.

Former trainer Anthony Burton said he had mixed emotions about the sale.

“He has just got so much raw ability, he wasn’t really asked a question,” Burton told NZ News Desk.

“It was a catch-22. I would have loved to have kept him, but he is off to bigger and brighter things, so I am happy.”
