Fulmina looking to break through

Gosford, G3 Gosford RSL Belle Of The Turf S., $160,000, 1600m

Mark Newnham will be looking to continue his terrific summer carnival with another Group win here with current favourite Fulmina (Snitzel). The 4-year-old mare finished a solid sixth over the Randwick mile last start and comes into the race third-up of which she has a good record at.

Sausedge (Shamus Award) has been knocking on the door of a win all campaign, finishing in the top four at all four of her starts. She has never won over 1600 metres but given the way she flashed home for second at her last start, there is every indication she will relish a step-up in distance.

The Chris Waller-trained Betcha Flying (Uncle Mo {USA}) has been up for a long time and beat Fulmina at her last start to finish second over 1600 metres at Randwick. She is due for a win and the distance will be no problem, however, she is an on-speed runner who will have to overcome a wide draw of barrier nine.

The Waikato Stud-owned On The White Turf (NZ) (Savabeel) has won two of her last three starts and deserves a crack at some black type. The distance will be no problem for her and she has drawn well with barrier seven.

Forbidden Love the one to beat

Gosford, Listed Sneddon Bros Gosford Guineas, $150,000, 1500m

Having finished 0.6l away in third in the G1 Empire Rose S. last-start, Michael and Rochard Freedman’s Forbidden Love (All Too Hard) is the one to beat. She comes into the race first-up for almost two months but she was solid in a trial at Randwick and won first-up in August.

Forbidden Love

Malkovich (Choisir) is in terrific form for Bjorn Baker having won three of his last four starts and placing at all five starts this campaign. This is a step up in class for him but he is an on-speed horse and has drawn favourably with barrier three.

Lightly-raced gelding The Face (Rubick) has only had three starts but have never finished out of the placings. He finished second first-up when he led the trip and tired late, so he will be fitter for that and he also placed behind Anders (Not A Single Doubt) back in August.

Aim (Star Witness) is out to make his claims for a trip to the Gold Coast for Magic Millions Day. This is his first-up run but he was impressive in winning his two public trials in the lead up and will no doubt be running on late.
