Tyro trainer Caroline Jennings has an exciting filly on her hands in Written Miss (Written Tycoon), who was in a class of her own at Pakenham when successfully defending the perfect start that she has made to her career.

The Irish-born Jennings is in her first year as Head Trainer for Pakenham-based racing entity Kennedy Racing, established by luxury watch and jewellery business owner James Kennedy.

Written Miss provided Jennings with her first training success when the flashy chestnut was an effortless winner at Ballarat in October and the 3-year-old was equally untroubled to land Saturday’s John Duff & Co H.

“It’s been an incredible time and it’s a huge thanks to my owner James Kennedy. It’s totally surreal and to be honest utterly nerve-wracking,” Jennings said.

She arrived in Australia in 2011 and gained experience with stints at Coolmore and in New Zealand at Waikato Stud and Cambridge Stud. She also worked in both Sydney and Melbourne for Gai Waterhouse before joining Kennedy Racing.

“There has been a lot of hype around Written Miss and rightly so, but you just don’t know what’s going to happen until they cross the line," Jennings said.

“Congratulations to James and all the team, she’s an absolute credit to everyone involved.”

Written Miss was quickly into stride under rider Jason Benbow and cruised along in front before dashing 3l clear with 300 metres to run and was never in any danger from that point on.

“James rides her work and he’s cool and calm and I was a bag of nerves and he said we’ll just go out and have some fun,” Jennings said.

“She has a few quirks, but they are definitely a good pairing. I’ve had a couple of wins here on our home track and there’s obviously an advantage here and it’s great to be able to celebrate with everyone.”

Written Miss won easing by 1.5l from first-starter Veranskova, a strapping filly also by Written Tycoon, and 4l back in third was Divine Miss Em (Super One), who was resuming after a first preparation that netted her three wins.

“She’s showing a lot of potential and is very exciting. I’m very grateful to be given the opportunity and a big thanks to Kennedy racing to have the confidence in me on a lovely filly like this,” Benbow said.

“To be honest, she only felt like she was in second gear when I went to the lead. There’s a bit of upside to her.”

Bred by Hesket Bloodstock, Written Miss was offered at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale by Stonehouse Thoroughbreds and bought by Kennedy Racing for $175,000.

She is the first winner for Enquare (Stratum), who was successful on five occasions including an edition of the G3 Vo Rogue S. and two Listed events and also finished runner-up in the G2 Blazer S.

Enquare is out of the two-time Group 3 winner and G1 Emirates S. placegetter Skewiff (Mookta) and further back in the pedigree is Global Glamour (Star Witness), winner at Group 1 level of the Flight S. and the G1 Thousand Guineas.
