Four-time stakes winner The Chosen One (NZ) (Savabeel) secured the final place in the 18-horse field for Saturday's G1 Caulfield Cup.
The decision of James Cummings to accept for the $5 million race with Avilius (GB) (Pivotal {GB}), meant connections of The Chosen One, including his trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, had to wait to see if they would get a run.
The G3 Coongy Cup, run on Wednesday, was the final ballot free race for the Caulfield Cup but the winner, Nonconformist (Rebel Raider) was not nominated for the 2400 metre race.
The four emergencies for the race are the Kris Lees-trained Raheen House (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) , Matt Cumani's San Huberto (Ire) (Speightstown {USA}), Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr's Oceanex (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}) and Le Don de Vie (GB) (Leroidesanimaux {Brz}), who is trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman.
Last year's G1 Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) tops the weights with 58.5kg, but his chances have been dealt a blow after he drew barrier 21.
Avilius, who drew barrier 17, will carry 57kg along with last year's G1 Melbourne Cup winner and Caulfield Cup runner-up Vow And Declare (Declaration Of War {USA}), who will jump from barrier 18.
G1 Turnbull S. winner Verry Elleegant (NZ) (Zed {NZ}) has firmed into equal favouritism with Anthony Van Dyck after drawing barrier 11 for the race, while Master Of Wine (Ger) (Maxios {GB}) also firmed after coming up with barrier seven.
