Asiago (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}) showed she is in for a lucrative spring campaign with a sparkling first-up success.

Unraced since she was out of the money in the G1 Schweppes Oaks, she was given a good run by Rachel King and when asked to lengthen stride in the run home she responded in style.

The 4-year-old hit the line strongly to beat Wandabaa (Wandjina), who continued her excellent run of form, and Missybeel (NZ) (Savabeel) belied her long odds with a bold showing for third.

Paths Of Glory (GB) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) posted his second win on Australian soil when he took advantage of a timely gap in the home straight.

The grey settled well off the early pace before picking up ground near the turn and burst between runners close to home to follow up a winning run on the Kensington track at his previous appearance.

The Lord Mayor (NZ) (Rock ‘N’ Pop) also got home strongly from the back to finish runner-up with a fresh Hush Writer (Jpn) (Rulership {Jpn}) turning in a bold showing for third.
