A well-related broodmare prospect topped the second day of the Book 3 auction at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale when she changed hands for US$325,000 (AU$474,000) while another high ticket filly was secured by Australian interests.

Lark Rise (USA) (More Than Ready {USA}) was the highest-priced offering of the session when she was purchased for US$325,000 (AU$474,000) by agent Hubert Guy on behalf of John Gunther’s Glenwood Farm out of the draft of the Hill ‘n’ Dale draft, as agent for Juddmonte Farms.

“He loved the mare and he went back to Vancouver, so he asked me to bid for him,” Guy said. “I had him on the phone and he wanted her.

“She's a very nice mare. Physically, she looks like a real quality horse. She's got a beautiful coat and she was very well-presented by Juddmonte and Hill 'n' Dale.

“She looks like she has a great temperament and she has a good size on her, which should be great to carry babies.”

Pinhook opportunity

A weanling son of Connect (USA) proved popular and he was knocked down to Dailey Bloodstock for US$250,000 (AU$365,000). He was offered by Paramount Sales.

The colt is a half-brother to the stakes winner Savings Account (USA) (Medaglia d’Oro {USA}) with their dam the multiple winner Wild Hoots (USA) (Unbridled’s Song {USA}). She is a sister to the G1 Wood Memorial S. winner Buddha (USA).

“I thought he was a very good-moving, scopey, beautiful colt who I feel still has a lot of upside for us,” said Renee Dailey, who was bidding on behalf on a pinhooking partnership.

“I actually had Connect as a weanling and sold him in July as a yearling, he was one of the first horses I prepped. I’ve been looking for the best one and I think I got it. He will probably go to Saratoga, that will be the plan.”
