“She’s from the family of champion Rhododendron (Ire), as well as champion Magical (Ire). She’s off to a great start with two very high quality individuals, and with this Quality Road (USA) that she’s carrying there really are endless possibilities.” - Denali Stud's Conrad Bandoroff

2). News: Magical (Ire) was found to have an elevated temperature on Monday morning and will not travel to the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita. She has been retired from racing and will be covered by No Nay Never (USA) next spring.

"She was due to leave at 9:30 a.m. and this happened at around 9:15 a.m., so our vet John Halley advised that she shouldn’t travel. She has been an unbelievable filly. She was so game, so consistent and so classy. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have anything to do with her.” - Aidan O'Brien

3). Feature: Chris McGrath sits down with Des Leadon to discuss a plethora of industry issues.

“You’re there to look after the horse’s best interests, at every stage of its life. I think we should be much more proactive in standing up for ourselves as good guardians of the thoroughbred. We’re not perfect, but we’re very good and we’re always working to be better yet." - Des Leadon

3). News: The TDN obtained a harshly-worded letter U.S. Jockey Club President and COO Jim Gagliano wrote to Mountaineer Park and the West Virginia Racing Commission in light of the recent dumping of a horse’s body that was strewn among garbage in a landfill.

“When a race horse suffers catastrophic injury and loss of life, it is a tragedy. Our dismay is compounded by the disposal of this racehorse’s remains in a most callous manner."

"The photos we have seen show her body lying among a field of trash, evidencing a total disregard for the solemnity this kind of situation demands. Racehorses should always be treated with dignity and respect, and this extends to how their remains are handled after their passing.” - Jockey Club President and COO Jim Gagliano
